Lurene M. Aylward's Obituary
Lurene M. Aylward, 98, of Peoria formerly of Decatur, died Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Manor Court of Peoria.
Lurene was born December 6, 1919 in Sullivan, Illinois, the daughter of Eugene E. and Bertha M. “May” (McClure) Freese. She was a devoted homemaker and member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. Lurene married Edwin C. Aylward on February 25, 1941 in Sullivan. He preceded her in death on January 29, 2004.
Surviving are her sons James E. Aylward, wife Dolores of DeLand, Florida, Robert L. Aylward, wife Kelly of Missouri City, Texas, and John P. “Patrick” Aylward, wife Michele of Fishers, Indiana, daughters Jane C. White, husband Tom of New Berlin, Wisconsin, Karon M. Meisel, husband Tom of Peoria, Marsha A. Rigg, husband Tom of Peoria, Theresa B. Verkler Iuarreguy, husband Art of Lancaster, South Carolina, and Barbara M. Brasser, husband Dean of Madison, Wisconsin, twenty-three grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Lurene was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Paul C. Aylward, grandsons William E. Martinie and Eric Benjamin, three brothers, three sisters.
Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Lurene’s life will be 11:00 AM Thursday, February 01, 2018, in St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 2160 N Edward St, Decatur, Rev. Richard Weltin celebrant. Visitation will be one hour before services in the church. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Bloomington. In lieu of flowers memorials to St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church or donor’s choice.
