Lydia Dougherty's Obituary
Lydia Dougherty, 80, of Altamont, IL, died holding the hand of her husband of 62 years Thursday, June 20, 2013 at Vandalia Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Vandalia, IL.
Lydia was born July 21, 1932 in Normal, IL, the daughter of John Colimo and Lydia Amy (Arndt) Lawhun. She worked as a manager of a Motel 6, and was a member of the VFW Auxiliary. In her spare time she enjoyed playing bingo, crocheting, and painting. She married the love of her life Thomas Doughterty on February 2, 1952 in Bloomington, IL.
Lydia leaves behind her husband, Thomas; daughter, Karen Sue Langham of Altamont, IL; sons, Dennis Edward (Judy) Dougherty of Bloomington, IL; William Thomas Dougherty of Decatur, IL; Brian Lee Dougherty of Carthage, IL; brother, Milford Lawhun; sister-in-laws, Patricia Cutwright of FL; Kathryn Lurz of Streator, IL; more than twenty grandchildren; more than 30 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins, as well as friends and adopted family members.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Raymond Lawhun; William “Don” Lawhun; Carlos Lawhun; Fred Lawhun; and sister, Gladys McCoy.
Honoring Lydia’s wishes, cremation services will be provided by Moran & Goebel Funeral Home and Cremation Services. No services are planned at this moment. Memorial contributions in memory of Lydia may be made to the family or to St. Jude Children Hospital.
