Lyle Doyle Simpkins' Obituary
Lyle Doyle Simpkins, 92, passed away at 8:53 A.M. on Thursday (03-06-2025) at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Lyle was born on February 4, 1933, in Vandalia, IL, the son of John Simpkins and Velma M. (Doyle) Simpkins. He married Julie McCain Smith on November 19, 1992, in Louisville, KY. They were married for over 32 years.
Lyle was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. He worked at Wagner’s Casting and Firestone as a Millwright. He was also a truck driver and a farmer.
He is survived by his wife Julie of Decatur, IL; son: Joseph Lyle Simpkins and wife Kristin of Frankfort, IL; daughter: Jandy Marie Carter and husband Matt of Jerseyville, IL; nine grandchildren: Jared and wife Marisa, Noah, and Isaac Simpkins, Abbey, Meagan Fuqua, Brianne Wren and husband Nate, Hayley, Austin, Brendan Fitzpatrick; three great-grandchildren; sister: Shirley Ramsey of Decatur, IL; son-in-law: Derek Fitzpatrick of Decatur, IL; and his loyal and faithful companion Misty Blue.
Lyle was preceded in death by his parents and one brother James Simpkins.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Friday (03-14-2025) at Moran and Goebel Funeral Home. The family requests that everyone wear casual attire.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Tabernacle Baptist Church or the Macon County Animal Control and Care Center.
