Lyle Wesley Starbody's Obituary
Lyle Wesley Starbody, 86, of Decatur passed away on Friday, February 19, 2010 in His home.
Lyle was born October 16, 1923 the son of Otto and Rosa Starbody. He retired from the State of Illinois in security for IL National Guard stationed in Decatur. He was an U.S. Army Veteran serving during WWII and participating in the Leyte Island Campaign and the Marshall Island Operation he also receive a Bronze Star. He married Norma Jean Ponewash on June 9, 1942 in Palmyra, MO she preceded him in death on January 8, 2010.
Surviving are his children: Linda K. Miller and Terry Emma Starbody all of Decatur; grandchildren: Tim Heather Miller, Rusty Michelle Miller, Jami Jamar Singleton Miller, Keisha Jones, and Nicholas Jones; great grandchildren: Karissa, Kelsey, T.J., and Delaney Grace Miller, Jamere, Jamareon, and Jamor Singleton, Chauntel Drake, Jr., and Connor Powers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers, Kenny, Homer and Lindy Starbody, one sister Mildred Gilman, and one son-in-law, James R. Miller.
The family would like to thank Dr. B. Esparez, Dr. M. Perdekamp, Dr. G. Patel, and St. John’s Hospice of St. Mary’s Hospital for all their care of Lyle and Norma. They would also like to thank Dr. L Baker for taking care of their dog, Tobie.
Services for Lyle and Norma will be 1:00 pm Thursday, February 25, 2010 in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Bruer officiating. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park with rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. Memorials are suggested to the family.
