Mac was the son of Mac Dewey and Rosa Ella Smith Gentry, Sr. He was a retired mechanic for the Park District, and a WWII Army Veteran. He married Lee J. Cole on September 7, 1962 in South Dakota.
Surviving are his wife; sons, James Gentry of Decatur; Patrick Gentry, wife Stacy of Decatur; brother, Carl Gentry, wife Donna of Poplar Bluff, MO.; granddaughter, Cami Gentry of Decatur.
His parents, one brother, and one sister preceded him in death.
