Mother Mamie D. Jelks 64 of Decatur passed away on December 25, 2004 in Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago.
Funeral Services celebrating her life and love will be held 11 am Thursday, December 30, 2004 in Church of the Living God P.G.T. Temple # 3 1762 East Prairie Street, with Rev. Lloyd E. Jackson, Sr., officiating, where visitation will be one hour before services. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery immediately following the service. Mama as she was known to all who knew her, was born in Brownsville, TN to Vera L. Taylor and Robert Hayes on June 19, 1940. She was a Charter Member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. Mama retired from Archer Daniels Midland Processing Plant in Decatur after many years of service.
Mother Jelks leaves behind to cherish fond memories, her five children, Sandra Abdullah and husband Zebe, Jessie D. Currie, Robin Currie, Delbert Currie and finance Janice and Mamie C. Currie; 3 adopted grandchildren, Christopher, Natasha and Chasity Currie; her seven siblings include; Robert Nicholson and wife Donna, Logan Nicholson and wife Lorraine, Robert Hayes, Keith Hayes, Della Cole, Vivian Lynch and Gussie Reed and husband Anthony and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and other family members.
The family of Mother Jelks would like to thank Dr. Mark Scott and the many other Physicians who assisted her during her illness.
