Marca Valen Shaw's Obituary
Marca Shaw, 60, of Decatur, IL passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at 7:25 p.m., at Hillsboro Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.
Marca was born into the union of Harrington and Evelyn Shaw, the 2nd child of thirteen (13) in Decatur, IL on December 7, 1965, at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
This beloved daughter, sister, mother, and aunt accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Jasper Church of Christ
Marca received her formal education and graduated from Douglas MacArthur High School of Decatur, IL in 1984. She also was a graduate of Mr. John’s Cosmetology School.
In 1991, she was united in holy matrimony to Rico Johnson, which was blessed with two (2) children. Marca was employed by Dennis School serving as a Lunchroom Supervisor and Playground Monitor. For several years she served as a Dietary Aide at Eagle Ridge Nursing Home in Decatur, IL. Marca other occupations included a certified cake decorator, and she was an AVON Representative.
Marca possessed many talents and gifts. She enjoyed being creative with her incredible artistic skills in hair styling, apparel designing, interior decorating and jewelry collection. Marca was very humorous, direct, and exhibited the ability to show love and compassion for humankind, but most of all she enjoyed celebrating birthdays, holidays, and spending time loving her children, family, and friends.
Marca and Rico relocated to Dallas, TX in 1993 and remained there for eight (8) years while raising their daughter and son. While living in Dallas, TX Marca was employed at Mary Kay as a cosmetic technician. She relocated back to Decatur in 2001.

Shaw III of Decatur, IL, Eldon (Irene) Shaw of Dallas, TX, Jubal Shaw of Decatur, IL, Jonathon (Tamika) Shaw of Mesquite, TX, Stanton (Kayaam) Shaw of Decatur, IL, Alex Shaw of Dallas, TX, Othalon Shaw of Little Elm, TX, and Makanda Shaw of Decatur, IL; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Marca was preceded in death by her son Demarcus L. Riley and Mother, Evelyn Oretha Shaw.
Moran & Goebel Funeral Home (2801 N. Monroe St., Decatur, IL 62526) is providing cremation services for Marca. Visitation will begin at 1pm with a Call to Order at 1:15pm prior to the 2pm service on Friday, January 16, 2026. Flowers for the services may be sent to the funeral home at the above address.
