Margaret was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and a very devoted supporter of both school and church. Margaret was an inveterate letter writer. Her family and friends eagerly anticipated the 3 to 4 page single spaced letters she frequently sent. She loved to play bridge, or any card game, and was a very good player. Margaret was unusually informed on the subject of sports, and she followed the Millikin girls' basketball team with great fervor, and attended most of their home games. She visited her dear ones in Ireland many times, along with her husband, Patrick, whose father was an Irish immigrant as was Margaret's maternal grandmother. Even after age 90, she continued to march in Decatur's St. Patrick's Day Parade. Margaret married Patrick T. Ryan in 1930 and they would have been married 73 years.
