Margaret L. Tanzyus' Obituary
Decatur – Margaret Laverne Tanzyus, 88, of Decatur, passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Margaret was born in Decatur on July 2, 1925 the daughter of Oscar and Hazel (Walker) Taylor. She was a homemaker, an Avon representative for many years and member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. Margaret married Leonard H. Tanzyus on November 17, 1946 in Olathe, KS, and he preceded her in death on June 13, 1996. Also preceding her in death were her parents; sons, John and Mike; grandson Stephen “Brian” Puckett; one brother, two sisters, and step-grandson, Phil Voelker.
Surviving are her children: Judith Voelker of Decatur, and Mark (Suzanne) Tanzyus of CO; grandchildren: Julie (Puckett) Cox (husband, Tony), Amy Tanzyus, Krystal (husband, Seth) Blankenship, Casey (husband, Bo) Randell, Rachel Tanzyus, and Jordan (wife, Amanda) Tanzyus; brother, Robert E. Tanzyus of KY, and sister Marilyn Crenshaw of Effingham; step-grandsons: Keith (wife, Julie) Voelker and Matt (wife, Jennifer) Voelker; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Services to celebrate her life will be 11 am, Wednesday, March 5, 2014 in the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home; visitation will begin at 10 am. Burial will take place in Mt. Gilead Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. John’s Lutheran Church or Hickory Point Christian Village.
