Margurie E. Finley 80 of Decatur passed away Wednesday December 22, 2004 in Lincoln Manor.
Funeral services celebrating her life will be 1 pm Wednesday December 29, 2004 in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home 2801 North Monroe Street where visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6-8 pm. Margurie was born in Toledo, IL the daughter of George and Iona Tipsword Ferris on October 07, 1924. She was a lifetime member of Riverside Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, loved gardening, reading poetry. She was a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She married Robert D. Finley, Sr. on March 10, 1940 in Decatur, he preceded her in death on June 18, 1989 in Decatur.
Margurie leaves behind to cherish fond memories, her sons; Russell Finley and wife Carol of Maroa, David Finley of Decatur, Robert D. Finley and wife Nancy of Moweaqua and Lawrence C. Larry Finley and wife Anne of Albany, Georgia; her daughter, Patricia Upchurch and husband Jerry of Moline; her brother, Bobby Ferris and wife Kathy of Decatur; her sister, Hilda Niles and husband Glenn of Mount Zion; her brother in law; Ronnie Hodges and late wife Shirley of Decatur; 11 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren.
Margurie was preceded in death by her parents, one sister – Shirley Hodges, 1 son – Glenn “Ted” and wife Rita Finley
The family of Margurie would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Lincoln Manor for all they did while Margurie was there, and another thank you goes to the entire staff of the SIU clinic.
