Maria Lynn Karmatzis' Obituary
Maria Lynn Karmatzis, 60, of Decatur, IL, passed away August 23, 2020 in Decatur, IL.
Maria was born June 19, 1960, in Bloomington, IL, the daughter of Nicholas and Emma Georgiann (Wright) Karmatzis.
Maria was a dietician supervisor in the health care field and loved being a Mary Kay sales rep. She was a veteran of the US Army and had proudly served as a member of the Macon County Honor Guard. She was also a member of the American Legion Post 105, VFW Post 99, DAV Chapter 17 and the Eagles Club. She loved helping others and bringing a smile to those around her.
Maria leaves behind to cherish her memory her father, Nicholas Karmatzis; children, Nicholas Walls, Gabriel Redding of Decatur, IL, Annie Redding of Decatur, IL, Adam Mattonen of Decatur, IL; siblings, Jeff Coggins Darcy) of Ohio, Pete Coggins of Decatur, IL, Tommy Karmatzis (Jackie) of Danville, IL, Yanni Karmatzis (Elena) of Greece; grandchildren, Nicholas T. Walls, Sophia Walls, Aiden Redding, Kenslee Harper, Kalaiah Harper; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her mother.
Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Monday, August 31, 2020 at Moran and Goebel Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM Monday at Moran and Goebel Funeral Home. Burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
Memorials: American Legion Post 105 or Wounded Warrior Project.
Reception will be sponsored by ABATE at 3:30 PM Monday, August 31, 2020 at The Venue, 2882 N Dinneen St, Decatur, IL.
