Marilyn Kay Rhodes' Obituary
Marilyn Kay Rhodes, 56, of Decatur, died Saturday, December 18, 2010 in her home with her family by her side.
Marilyn was born February 15, 1954 in Decatur the daughter of Eddie and Leona Chaffin Humphries. She worked for Decatur Electronics, Municipal Electronics and Decatur Public Transit. She married David W. Rhodes on August 19, 1978 in Decatur and he preceded her in death on July 7, 2003.
Surviving is her son, Johnny Humphries; step-son, David Tonya Bruss, Jr; mother, Leona Humphries; sister, Carol Humphries; brother, Eddie Humphries; grandchildren: Michael, Dustin, Logan and Lacy Humphries; step grandchildren: Ashley Karrick, Haley and Adrianna Bruss; nieces: Andrea Chad Munsterman and Heather Dennis Warner; special aunt, Beverly Humphries; aunts and uncles: Leota and Roy Younker, Pauline and Dean Sarver, Mary Rogers, Jane and Jack Templeton, Janet and Robert DeCota; numerous cousins; dear friends: Sandy Theobald, Katie Doyle and Kathy & Connie.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, December 20, 2010 in the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Services celebrating Marilyn’s life will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 21, 2010 in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park Cemetery, Decatur. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts are suggested to: Cancer Care Specialists of Central Illinois.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband; father, Eddie Humphries; grandmothers: Hazel Humphries and Maxine Chaffin; grandfathers: George Edward Humphries and Paul Chaffin; dear friend, Patty Buchen.
Marilyn fought and sadly lost a four year battle with cancer. She will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved her.
