Marilyn A. Samuelson's Obituary
Decatur – Marilyn A. Samuelson, 71, of Decatur, passed away Monday, May 8, 2017 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Marilyn was born February 12, 1946 in Champaign, the daughter of Raymond and Maxine (McGee) Samuelson. She worked as a secretary for Decatur School District 61 and Firestone and she was proud to be the first female hired to work in the factory at Firestone. Marilyn enjoyed going to Churchill Downs seeing the horses, watching them race and exploring and visiting St. Louis.
She is survived by her daughter, Jenny Samuelson of Decatur who she loved immeasurably; siblings, Barbara “Bobbie” Henson and Steve (Sharon) Samuelson of Decatur; niece, Katie (Brock) Boltz; nephews: Beau Henson (Sara Perdue) and Dustin (Nichole) Henson; grandniece, Arya Henson and grandnephews: Samy Boltz and Roman Henson.
She was preceded in death by her parents and nephew, Tony Samuelson who delighted in embarrassing Marilyn in public.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm, Monday, May 15, 2017, at the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Graveside service will be 10 am, Tuesday, May 16, 2017 in Boiling Springs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Marilyn A. Samuelson Memorial Fund.
