Marjorie Ann "Marge" Galloway's Obituary
Decatur – Marjorie Ann “Marge” Galloway, 77, of Decatur, entered into eternal life on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Imboden Creek Living Center surrounded by her loving family.
Marge was born in Decatur, IL on October 14, 1936 the daughter of Lawrence C. and Frances J. (Knoblock) Yunker. She graduated from St. James Grade School and St. Teresa High School and was a founding member of Holy Family Catholic Church. She served Holy Family as parish secretary with great loyalty and devotion under each pastor since its inception until retiring in June of 2011. Marge was honored with the Magificat Award from the Diocese of Springfield in Illinois on December 12, 2013, for her many years of service to Holy Family Parish. She married Edward R. Galloway on September 15, 1956 in Decatur, IL and he preceded her in death on May 14, 2001. She was also preceded in death by her parents and sister, Mary Banning.
Surviving are her children: Gregory Galloway of Idaho Falls, ID, Gordon (Brenda) Galloway, Galen Galloway and Gina (Tom) Hjort all of Decatur; grandchildren: Jessica, Eric, Ryan, Natalie, Jennifer, Kameron, Josh and Sarah; great grandson, Drew; sisters: Rita (Bill) Lawyer and Laurice (John) Sheehy all of Decatur; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial will be 12 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Bishop Carl Kemme and Very Rev. Joseph M. Molloy main celebrants; visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the mass time at the church. Burial will take place in Mt. Gilead Cemetery.
The family of Marge Galloway would like to give a special thanks to Ethel Newbern her caregiver and friend who took care of mom with such love and devotion. They would also like to thank the wonderful staff at Imboden Creek Living Center for all of their loving care and concern.
