Marjorie A. Rodgers May's Obituary
Marjorie A Rodgers May, 98 of Decatur, IL passed away November 17, 2024, in Urbana, IL. She was born May 22, 1926, in Decatur, Il, daughter of Harold and Kathryne Rodgers. She married James (Jim) May (Dec. 1991) in 1950. She later married John Mooney (Dec. 2011) in 2005.
Survivors include two sisters - Madonna Von de Bur, Mt Zion. IL and Jeannette Brady, McKinney, TX; four children - David (Carolyn) May of LaGrange, IL, Kathleen Hansen of Champaign, IL, Jonathan (Marcia) of Treasure Island, FL, and Matthew (Judy) May of Forsyth, IL; ten grandchildren - David (Debbie) Hansen, Lindsay (James) Anderson, Michael (Jacquline) Hansen, Christopher (Kathleen) May, Jeffrey May, Brian May, Alexander (Julia) May, Jonathan May, James May, and Tyler May; 12 great grandchildren - Carter, Owen, Grace, Natalie, Addie, Elizabeth, Ian, Ella, Oliver, Nolan, Kathryne, and Maxwell.
Marjorie was devoted to her family, friends, and her ministry. She engaged everyone with her warm outgoing personality. She welcomed young and old in her home. She hosted many gatherings with family and friends.
She volunteered for many city-wide organizations including Good Samaritan, Women’s Shelter, public and private schools, St. Mary’s Hospital auxiliary, Habitat for Humanity, Catholic Worker house, St. James, and Our Lady of Lourdes. She served in many avenues of ministry including R.C.I.A., faith formation for adults, multiple church committees, and was an Eucharistic minister. She was a member of the Ladies Kiwanis.
Concelebrated funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes, Decatur, IL at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 5, 2024, with Rev. Richard Weltin officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the mass at the church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery immediately after the funeral.
Memorials may be made to Good Samaritan or Our Lady of Lourdes.
