Mark S. Shaw's Obituary
Mark S. Shaw, 62, of Sparta, WI formerly of Decatur, died Thursday, October 27, 2016 at his home.
He was born on January 17, 1954 in Decatur to John W and Patricia J (Curtis) Shaw Jr. He attended Stephen Decatur High School. Mark joined the US Army shortly after high school. His military career started with 4 years active duty assigned to Ft Riley, KS. Following active duty, Mark immediately joined the Army Reserves with various assignments at Fort McCoy in Sparta, WI. Mark enjoyed his travel with the Army, spending time in Italy and Germany. He also worked at Cardinal Glass in Tomah, WI until his death. Mark enjoyed playing cribbage with his friends at Linda Lou’s, a Sparta establishment. He was a life-long Chicago Bears fan. Mark had a fondness for animals and was a long time ASPCA contributor.
Mark is survived by his twin brother, Michael T. Shaw of Cape Coral, FL; sister, Katherine P. (Allan Benson) Shaw of Aurora, IL; and brother, Kevin C. Shaw of Decatur, IL; two nephews, Nathan Shaw and Kevin Shaw Jr.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John W and Catherine M (Naughton) Shaw Sr., Lewis W and Grace (Medley) Curtis; parents; and a brother, John W. Shaw III.
A visitation will be held from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Friday, November 4, 2016 at Moran and Goebel Funeral Home. Private burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Freedom Honor Flight.
