Mark Eric Westbay's Obituary
Mark Eric Westbay, 50, of Decatur, died Monday, January 26, 2009 at St. Mary’s Hospital.
Mark was born February 9, 1958, in Decatur, the son of Jack D. and Barbara J. Benedict Westbay. He was a graduate of Stephen Decatur High School and worked for ADM until he retired. Mark was a member of the Knights of Columbus Pool Team, an avid NASCAR, Cub, Bears, and Illini fan. He was a Corvette enthusiast and loved to hunt and play golf. Mark and Thea Walker were united in marriage on July 3, 2004 in Decatur.
Surviving is his wife, Thea of Decatur; son, Matthew Westbay of Chicago; mother, Barbara J. Westbay of Decatur; brother, John wife, Carol Friis of Decatur; sisters: Martha husband, William Camp and Cathy husband, Martin Mitteer of Forsyth; sister-in-law, Pam husband, Bob Brennan of Decatur; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, grandparents and father and mother-in-law, Fred and Trudy Walker.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 pm Thursday, January 29, 2009 at the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Services celebrating his life will be 10 am, Friday, January 30, 2008 in the funeral home chapel. Burial will take place at a later date. Memorials: Knights of Columbus Building Fund or American Heart Association
