Marsha Nolte's Obituary
DECATUR – Marsha D. Nolte 75 of Decatur, IL, formerly of Tuscola, IL died Thursday July 27, 2023.
Services will be at 10:00AM Wednesday August 2nd in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home in Decatur with visitation Tuesday August 1st from 6:00PM to 8:00PM. The burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery.
Marsha was born to John E. and Wanda M. (Prowell) Cranford Jr. in Champaign, IL, Feb. 20, 1948.
She received her bachelor's and master’s degree as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) from the University of Illinois.
Her career encompassed many places, (Clinton Mental Health Center, Lutheran Child and Family Services, Kemmerer Village). However, after the loss of her son, she started work at Springfield Memorial Hospital as a Psychiatric Social Worker and Hospice Care Coordinator, helping families through some of the toughest parts of their lives.
She retired from Springfield Memorial Hospital in 2013.
Marsha married Harold D. Hamilton in 1968. After their divorce Marsha and Richard A. Nolte married in 1981.
She loved both music and her pets. Marsha was the vocalist for John Cranford and the Statesmen, playing venues from Chicago to St. Louis and Quincy to Indianapolis. She also traveled extensively to enjoy her fondness for music.
Marsha is survived by her husband Richard A. Nolte, son Anthony A. Hamilton and wife Amy of Decatur, grandchildren Nicholas and Jillian Hamilton of Decatur, sister Jill Scott and Husband Bruce of Sarasota, FL, nieces Kelli, Jessica, and Stephanie and her pets Mia and Molly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son John P. Hamilton, her sister Nancy Schurman, and her first husband Harold D. Hamilton.
Memorials may be made to Decatur Community Dance, Scovill Zoo, or donor’s choice.
