Martha Mae Seals' Obituary
Martha M. Seals, 78, of Decatur, transitioned from earth to eternity on September 18, 2023, at Carle Clinic in Champaign, IL.
Martha was born November 16, 1944, in Memphis, TN, the daughter of Wesley and Sam’Ella Seals. Martha graduated from Barrett Chapel H.S. in Memphis, TN in 1963. Martha excepted Christ at an early age where she became a member of Cannon Temple MBC in Chicago, IL under the leadership of Rev. C.L. Wilson, later she joined Miracle Temple Church of God in Christ Decatur, IL under the leadership of Elder J.D. Foster. Martha found her home sweet home of over 30 years at Ebenezer Baptist Church, MBC in Decatur, IL under the leadership of Pastor Calvin Green.
Martha occupations where at Burgess Envelope Company, and Thompson Home in Decatur, IL where she retired from. Martha enjoyed her Jigsaw and crossword puzzles. Her love for cooking and catering at Loveable Delights some of Martha’s favorites where her Spaghetti Pie, Cornbread Dressing, Hashbrown Casserole and of course them Apple Sauce Bars. As she would say “I put my foot in”.
Martha leaves behind two surviving children: Theresa Seals and James (Alisha) Phillips. Five Grandsons: Xavier Seals-Freemon, Damisi Tyler Jr., Izaiha, Braylen and Quintyon Phillips. Four Great-Grandchildren: Zamir Seals-Freemon, Zayla Seals-Freemon, Xavier Seals-Freemon Jr. and Malonie Hernandez- Tyler all of Decatur, IL to share her memories along with family and friends. Martha also leaves behind her surviving sibling, Sister Corrine Hayes and Brother Henry J. Seals of Decatur, IL. Special thanks and acknowledgment to her nieces, Rita Currie-McCoy and Linda Casterberry. Sister Claudine Todd, Sister Jerdean Meeks, Candice Freeman, Eddie Hollaway and the Staff at Carle Clinic.
Martha is preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Willie and Charlie Seals. Sisters: Fannie Seals, Mildred McCoy, Ernestine Brown and Mary E. Smith.
A service will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at 12:00 PM with a visitation an hour prior at Ebenezer Baptist Church, MBC, 240 N Edward St, Decatur, IL 62522. A burial will follow services at Macon County Memorial Park.
