Marvin "Mick" P. Hoehne's Obituary
Marvin “Mick” P. Hoehne, 75, of Decatur, Illinois was born November 18, 1939 in Quincy, Illinois, the son of Arthur F. and Iola M. (Requet) Hoehne, passed away Sunday, March 29, 2015 in his home with family by his side after a two year battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, 2055 S. Franklin St., Decatur, IL with visitation Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home, 2801 N. Monroe, Decatur, Illinois from 4 to 7 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Interment Mt. Gilead Cemetery, Decatur, Illinois.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving between June, 1958 and February, 1961 with the 163rd MP Company at Presidio, California and with the 508th MP Battalion in Munich and Berchtesgaden, Germany. He worked for United Parcel Service for 20 years in numerous management positions in Decatur, Illinois after starting as a delivery driver in Quincy, Illinois. He was a Program Representative (Job Service) for the Illinois Department of Employment Security in Decatur, Illinois for 12 years.
He married Nancy Anderson in Quincy, Illinois in January, 1964.
He was an active member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church (LCMS) where he served at various times as congregation chairman, elder, property chairman and president of the Men’s Club; he delivered Meals on Wheels; was a past vice-president of the Lincolnland Branch of Lutheran Brotherhood, was an LSA Foundation Board of Directors member and a past president and current Board Chairman of the Decatur Breakfast Sertoma Club.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy of 51 years, daughter, Allison of St. Louis, Missouri and son, Jason (Loretta) and granddaughter, Tayler, of Decatur, Illinois, and sister, Barbara Czubernat, of Monee, Illinois and two nephews, Larry and Bradley.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family would like to thank the staff of St. John’s Home Health/Hospice program for their care and support.
