Mary J. Demirjian's Obituary
Mary J. Demirjian, 72 of Decatur, Illinois, passed away, after a short illness, Thursday, April 26, 2007, from lung and bone cancer. Mary was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on September 26, 1934 to Simon and Suzie Jingozian. She moved to Detroit, Michigan at the age of 2 and grew up in the Detroit area. She received her B.A. in Education from the University of Michigan and went on to teach 4th - 6th grades. She married J. Gerald Demirjian in 1957. Mary and Jerry lived in many cities throughout the country as Jerry worked for a consulting firm and Chrysler Corporation. She moved to Decatur, Illinois in November 1980 upon Jerry's accepting a position at Borg Warner Corporation.
After moving to Decatur, Mary was active with her husband Jerry in their manufacturing business, Climate Control and Tillotson Industries. She enjoyed doing crafts projects of all types and was an avid quilter and knitter.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Jerry and five children and their spouses: Dr. David and Cathy Demirjian, Simone and Randy Beazly, Charles and Suzanne Demirjian, Richard and Anne Demirjian and Kara Demirjian and her fiancÃ?©, Mark Huss. Mary is also survived by twelve grandchildren: Nina, Marshall, Geoffry, Simon Demirjian, Nicholas, Evelyn, Simon Beazly, Thomas, Mary Claire, Joseph, Mara and Jack. She is also survived by one brother, Paul Jingozian, and his wife Millie, and by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Both of her parents preceded her in death.
Visitation will be Monday, April 30, 2007 from 4 pm to 8 pm in the Moran and Goebel Funeral Home. Funeral services 10:30 am Thursday, May 3, 2007, in St. John Armenian Church, 22001 Northwestern Hwy, Southfield Michigan. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Detroit, MI. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to Webster Cantrell - J. Gerald and Mary J. Demirjian Educational Fund or to Millikin University.
