Mary Lucille Ganley's Obituary
Decatur-Mary Lucille Ganley, 94, of Decatur, passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at Heartland of Decatur with her family by her side.
Mary was born September 7, 1920 in Sadorus, Illinois, the daughter of Frank and Lucy (Ryan) Giblin. She was previously employed with St. Mary’s Hospital retiring after ten years of service. Mary was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and enjoyed quilting, reading, and poetry. She married Joseph Ganley in 1936. He preceded her death in 1981.
Mary leaves behind her children Joseph Neil Ganley and wife Betty of Decatur, William Michael Ganley and wife Coline of Decatur, E. John Ganley and wife Dianna of West Monroe, Louisiana, James Terence Ganley and wife Ann of St. Paul, Missouri, and Margie Topper and husband Rick of Sandia Park, New Mexico, daughter-in-law Elaine Ganley of Corpus Christi, Texas, brother Edward Giblin and wife Dee of Merrillville, Indiana, sister Vicki Goodmann and husband Joe of Sadorus, twenty grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren, and twenty great-great-grandchildren.
Mary was reunited in Heaven with her parents, husband, step-mother Pearl Giblin, son Larry Ganley, brothers Francis, Paul, and Joseph Giblin and James Groves, sisters Myrtle Mullins, Grace Temple, and Beverly Jarboe, grandson Phillip Ganley, and great-granddaughter Leigh Ann Oberheim.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Raycraft and the nurses and staff at Heartland of Decatur for all of their loving care.
Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Mary’s life will be 10 a.m. Friday, February 6, 2015 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 2160 N. Edward St. Decatur, with Rev. Richard Weltin, Celebrant. Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Ivesdale. Memorials are suggested to St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.
