Mary G. "Genny" Hoppe's Obituary
Mary Genevieve "Genny" Hoppe, 89, of Decatur, formerly of Oreana, died on Saturday, March 5, 2005 in St. Mary's Hospital.
Funeral services celebrating her life will be 11 a.m. Fri. Mar. 11, 2005, in the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home, Rev. Ellen Rechenbach officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Oreana Christian Church.
Genny was born on May 16, 1915 in Decatur, the daughter of John L. and Lillie I. Davis Johnson. She was a homemaker who worked as a nurse's aide prior to her marriage on Nov. 4, 1939, to Charles H. Hoppe. She was a lifetime resident of Macon County, a member of the Oreana Christian Church, Ladies Home Bureau, and numerous other civic activities in the Oreana community. Genny was a loving and devoted farm wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.
Surviving are her daughters: Linda Robert Kolbo of Cheyenne, WY; Nancy John Kendall of Macon; siblings: John Johnson of Junction City, OR; Helen Wayne Stanley of Decatur; James Mary Johnson of Cedarville, OH; Wanda Ashcraft York of Eugene, OR; Barbara Henry Young and Doris Hammel all of Decatur; grandchildren: Justin Kelly Allsop of Cheyenne, WY; Christina Nathan Dougherty of Meridian, ID; Reta Kendall and Ashley Kendall of Macon, IL; Travis Kolbo of Cheyenne, WY; great grandchildren: Brandon Charles Allsop of Cheyenne, WY; Piper LeeAnn Dougherty and Bailey Oliver Dougherty of Meridian, ID; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Her parents, husband and brother, Robert L. Johnson of Scottsdale, AZ. preceded her in death.
The family would like to thank: Dr. Phillip Sharkey and his staff for their many years of medical care, Dr. Muhammad Khan for his care for the past four years, the nurses and staff of St. Mary's Hosp. 6th floor and 7th floor Skilled Care Unit, Linda Boyd and the staff of Tanglewood Village, and the many CHELP aides who assisted in Genny's care.
