Mary Wahoo Hawthorne's Obituary
Mary C. "Wahoo" Hawthorne, 86, of Mt. Zion formerly of Decatur passed away in her daughter's home on Friday November 5, 2010.
Mary was born on July 24, 1924 in Decatur the daughter of Joseph and Martha Fittkau Boenig. She was a Big time St. Louis Cardinal fan and Mascot to her Thursday night softball boys. She married Howard "Wahoo" Hawthorne on July 10, 1943 in Springfield, IL he preceded her in death on April 7, 1998.
Surviving are her daughters, Karen Kelly Darryll of Mt. Zion; Phyllis Radley of Decatur; daughter-in-law, Sharon Hawthorne; son-in-law, Tom Hyde Carol;15 grandchildren, 1 step-grandchild, 17 great-grandchildren, 3 step-great-grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren on the way. She is also survived by her dearest and oldest friend Agnes Lake and her family at Tanglewood Village.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 sons, Eddie Hawthorne and Larry Hawthorne, 1 daughter, Donna Hyde, 1 sister, Helen, 2 half-sisters, Ann and Louise, and a 1 half brother, Joseph.
The family would like to thank Dr. Scribner and staff, Dr Waters and DMH Hospice for all their loving care.
Funeral Liturgy will be 10:00 Tuesday November 9, 2010 in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Grant officiating. Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 pm Monday in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Burial will be in Northfork Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to DMH Heart & Lung Institute or DMH Hospice.
