Mary Ellen Hebenstreit's Obituary
Mary Ellen Moran Hebenstreit, 74, of Decatur passed away at 3:23 pm Thursday, March 31, 2011 in her home surrounded by her family.
Mary Ellen was born on July 5, 1936 in Decatur the daughter of Glenn “Spud” and Evelyn Marie Strausbaugh Moran.  She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She had worked at United Airlines as a reservation Agent in Chicago, a detox technician, edited recipe books and wrote children stories. She was also a partner in Marydick Enterprises and Ellenjohn Properties. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Operation Enduring Support, and Decatur Right to Life. She married Richard “Dick” J. Hebenstreit on October 7, 1961 in Decatur.
Surviving are her husband Dick; sons, John R. Hebenstreit Lana of Mt. Pulaski; Dr. Stephen G. Hebenstreit of Arlington, TX; Mark J. Hebenstreit Melanie of Springfield; Michael J. Hebenstreit Daynna of Bloomington; brothers, John David Moran of Decatur; Glenn Moran of Kentucky; sister, Sister Rose Marie Moran OSU of Houston, TX; 10 grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter Lynn Marie Hebenstreit three brothers, Bob Moran, James Moran, and Joe Moran, and one sister Kathleen Moran Margias.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Monday April 4, 2011 in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Rev. Rick Weltin as Celebrant. Visitation will be 3:00 ' 5:00 pm Sunday in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Burial will be in Boiling Springs Cemetery and conclude with “Flight Home” ceremony. Memorials are suggested to Decatur Right to Life or New Life Pregnancy Center.
