Mary Florence Loury's Obituary
Mary Florence Douglas Loury, 82 of Decatur went to be with her Lord in Savior at 6:20 pm Thursday December 18, 2003 in Saint Mary's Hospital.
Homegoing services will be 11 am Tuesday December 23, 2003 in Saint Peter's AME Church with Rev. Beverly Joy officiating, where visitation will be from 10 am until service time. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Condolences: May be made to the family at www.moranandgoebel.com
Mary Florence was born in Tell City, Indiana on June 12, 1921 the daughter of Phillip and Willie Loury. She was a lifelong member of Saint Peter's AME Church. She worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for many years, working at Decatur Memorial Hospital and Saint Mary's Hospital, finally working as a private duty nurse for a number of years in the Decatur area. She was a member of the National Registry of Nurses.
Mary Florence leaves behind to cherish fond memories, her daughter; Evelyn Sims of California; her granddaughter which she raised; Sharon Smith of Decatur, her adopted daughter Tina Pealer and husband Jason, brother; Raymond Loury of Owensboro, Kentucky, sister; Rose Harris and husband Herman of Rockford, Illinois, great grandchildren; Eugene, Kisha and Tamieka Smith all of Decatur, 12 great – great grandchildren. Her special foster children Lillian Jones of Decatur and a host of others. Her special friends, Martha Foster and Versie Barbee both of Decatur; Lottie and George Carrington of Chicago and a host of nieces, nephews and other friends.
Mary Florence was preceded in death by two brothers; Frank and Edward and two sisters; Nettie Dawson and Edith Webb, one granddaughter - Nadine Reed
