Mary Elizabeth Pfile's Obituary
Mary Elizabeth Pfile, 96, of Decatur, died at 8:15 a.m. Tuesday, August 23, 2011 in Heartland Health Care, Decatur.
Mary was born August 13, 1915 in Decatur a daughter of Victor J. Schimanski and Rosa Marie Scherer Schimanski. She was a homemaker who worked for the State of Illinois Department of Finance for several years. Mary was a member of St. James Catholic Church, St. Elizabeth Sodality, St. Mary’s Auxiliary, St. Teresa Booster Club and St. James Home and School Club. She married Leroy Edward Pfile on February 2, 1938 in Decatur and he preceded her in death September 15, 2006.
Surviving are her children: son, Leroy E. “Pete” Becky Pfile, Jr. of Cypress, TX; daughters, Rosalind “Rosie” Harris of Decatur, Suzanne Fred Smith of South Bend, IN, Mary Lee Richard Stubblefield of Alpharetta, GA, Margaret Kostenski and Kathryn “Kathy” Jim Morrison all of Decatur, Theresa “Terri” Daniel Streeval of Sherman; grandchildren: Martin and Stuart Harris, Ann Morgan, Stephen, David, Rachel, and Jonathan Smith; Elizabeth Chapman, Michael Stubblefield, Catherine Banks, Matthew and Mark Stubblefield; Erin Tatham, Kori Kostenski-Byard and David Kostenski; Shawn Morrison White, Jason, Jeffrey and Justin Morrison; Gregory and Kenneth Pfile; Cameron Spotts, Andrew, Kristin, Patrick and Benjamin Streeval; 34 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Gladys Potter, Kathryn Bork and Clara Meara; brother-in-law, Robert Pfile; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband; sisters: Dorothy Dayton, Helen Henneberry, Florence Boland and Anne Hooley; brother, Leo Schimanski; granddaughter, Marian Stubblefield and great grandson, Christopher Harris.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 28, 2011 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. in the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Concelebrated Mass of the Resurrection Celebrating Mary’s life will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, August 29, 2011 in St. James Catholic Church. Interment will take place at 12 p.m. in Camp Butler National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to: St. James Catholic Church or St. Teresa High School.
