Mary Lee Stubblefield's Obituary
Mary Lee Stubblefield, 74, of Alpharetta, GA, formerly of Decatur, IL, passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2017 in her home after bravely and boldly fighting breast cancer for seven years. Mary Lee was known for her love of life, sense of humor and kindness toward others. She will be greatly missed!
Mary Lee was born on September 25, 1942 in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Leroy Edward and Mary Elizabeth (Schimanski) Pfile. She married Richard “Dick” Marion Stubblefield on August 31, 1963 in Decatur. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Alpharetta, GA, Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Decatur, IL, P.E.O., New Neighbors League and New Comers. In addition to her work as a mother, during her life she worked as a telephone operator for Illinois Bell, as a professional wallpaperer, and as a secretary in various offices at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Surviving are her husband, children, Michael Stubblefield of Sugar Hill, GA; Catherine Banks (Ken) of Federal Way, WA; Matthew Stubblefield (Donatala) of Alpharetta, GA; Mark Stubblefield (Laura) of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Alex Galiher, Halle Banks, Hanna Banks, Aiden Stubblefield, Lilly Stubblefield, Ella Stubblefield, and Logan Stubblefield; and siblings, Rosalind Harris of Decatur, IL; Suzanne Smith (Fred) of Tampa, FL; Margaret Kostenski of Decatur, IL; Kathy Morrison (Jim) of Decatur, IL; Leroy “Pete” Pfile, Jr. (Becky) of Houston, TX; Terri Streeval (Dan) of Sherman, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter Marian Lynne.
Mass of Christian Burial will be concelebrated at 10 AM Friday, May 26, 2017 in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Rev. Rick Weltin and Rev. Don Wolford as Concelebrants. Visitation will be 5-7 PM Thursday, May 25, 2017, with a 4:30 PM Vigil Prayer service, at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
