Mary L. Wayne's Obituary
Mary L. Wayne 87, of Decatur, entered into eternal rest on Thursday December 12, 2002 in Decatur.
Funeral Mass will be 10 A.M. Monday December 16, 2002 in St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, with Fr. Dennis Kollross officiating. Visitation will be Sunday December 15, 2002 from 2 until 4 P.M. in the church. Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery.
J. J. Moran & Sons Funeral Home is charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that memorials be made to St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.
Mary was born in Decatur on April 3, 1915 the daughter of Oliver and Ellen Hilger Heatherton. Mary worked for a short time as a nurse prior to becoming a mother to nine children. She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church where she was very involved in church activities. She married Jerome T. Wayne on July 17, 1940 in Decatur and he preceded her in death on March 16, 1964.
Surviving are her daughters: JoAnne Cooper Larry of Lansing, Mich.; Katherine Wayne of St. Louis, MO.; sons: Caleb Wayne Diane of Weldon; Thomas Wayne of Decatur; Daniel Wayne of Portland, OR.; Stephen Wayne Diane of Jacksonville; Peter Wayne Linda 0f Decatur; Paul Wayne Susie of Decatur; brother, Richard Heatherton Eleanor of Fairfield, Ohio; 29 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Her parents; husband; daughter, Mary Cecilia Pyles; brothers: Jim and Bill Heatherton; and sister, Josephine Heatherton preceded her in death.
