Mathias P. Filchak's Obituary
Mathias “Matt” P. Filchak, 77, of Moweaqua, IL passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Matt was born on December 15, 1932 in Clinton, IN the son of John P. and Eva V. Nicklin Filchak. He was an Air Force Veteran of the Korean War. He retired as a Mill Wright from Caterpillar manufacturing in 1986. He was a member of St. JohnÃ?¯Ã?¿Ã?½s Episcopal Church and the American Legion. He married M. Patricia Johnson on April 5, 1951 in Taylorville.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia, son, Matt P. Filchak Carolyn of Oakley; daughters, Kathy Weidner Doug of Decatur; Charla Robb Mike of Moweaqua; daughter-in-law, Trudi Filchak of Moweaqua; sister, Eva Mary Stiltz of Phoenix, AZ; brother, Lance Filchak Hazel of Hoover, AL; sister-in-law, Bernice Filchak of Hot Springs, AR; brother-in-law, Herschel Smith of Phoenix, AZ; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, John Filchak, brothers, John Filchak, George Filchak, and William Filchak, and one sister, Edith Smith.
Service celebrating the life of Matt will be 10:00 am Saturday November 27, 2010 in St. John’s Episcopal Church with Rev. Chuck Reischman Officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 pm Friday in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Burial will be in Gordon Adams Cemetery in Moweaqua. Memorials are suggested to St. John’s Episcopal Church. The family request casual attire.
