Maurice E. "Pete" Kapper's Obituary
Forsyth – Maurice E. “Pete” Kapper, 98, of Forsyth, passed away Thursday, February 29, 2024, at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Pete was born on November 12, 1925, in Decatur, IL, a son of Aloysius E. and Clara M. (Blank) Kapper. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and worked at A.E. Staley for 37 years before retiring in 1986. Pete also was a volunteer fireman for Hickory Point Township for 37 years, Forsyth Little League Manager for 10 years, and worked part-time for Don Westerman’s Farm for 46 years. He married Doris I. Neibuhr on February 17, 1946, and together they celebrated 78 years of marriage.
Surviving are his wife, Doris of Forsyth; children: Vicki (Jeff) Largent, Dennis (Victoria) Kapper and Donna Merrill; 13 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren; daughter in law Elaine Kapper; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends:
Pete was preceded in death by his parents, son Kevin, siblings: Wilfred Kapper, Virgil Kapper, Matilda Rennier, Isabelle Blakeman, and Teresa Schroll, son in law Reggie Merrill and daughter in law Shirley Kapper.
Visitation will be Monday, March 4, 2024, from 5pm to 7pm at the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be 10am, Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Macon County Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hickory Point Fire and Rescue.
