Melvin Jones' Obituary
Decatur-Melvin Jones, 64, of Decatur passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2014 in Decatur Memorial Hospital, with his family at his side.
Home going services to celebrate Melvin’s life will be 11:00 am Saturday, August 23, 2014 in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Memorial donations are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
Interment will be at Graceland Cemetery, and conclude with the “Flight Home Ceremony”.
Melvin was born on February 18, 1950 in Brownsville, TN, the son of Jimmie and Rosa Lee (Shelly) Jones. He enjoyed barbequing, fishing, sports, Monday night football, and mostly loved spending time with his family. Melvin worked as a home health care worker for many years.
Cherishing his memories are his sons, Maurice Cole of Springfield, Karl Cole of Champaign, Phillip Jones of Decatur; Marvis Parker of Decatur; daughter, Ma’Shara (Kendrick) Alexander of Decatur, IL; brother, Willie (Deborah) Frank Jones of Decatur, IL; grandchildren, Kamylia, Jakyha, Jakez, Yancy, Monterra, Kendrick Jr., and Karra; and one great-grandchild, Kenondis, special cousin, Chester Mae Stepney, Charlie White, special friend, Eliza Brownlee, a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
