Decatur-Melvin G. Roady, 83, of Decatur, passed away at 2:35 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2011 at his home with his family by his side.
Services to celebrate Melvin’s life will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at the funeral home. Interment will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2011 in Witt Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the wishes of the family. Melvin was born May 30, 1927 in Palmer, Illinois the son of Otis Lee and Ida Mary Frances Groves Roady. He retired from Wagner Casting Company after thirty-seven and a half years of service. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and watching his grandsons, race at Macon Speedway. He married Geneva Cole September 11, 1945.
He leaves behind Geneva, his beloved wife of over sixty-five years, children, Melvin Lee Roady, Jr. and wife Nancy of Decatur and Linda J. Eckart and husband Robert D. of Decatur, brother, George Roady and wife Mary of North Carolina, sisters, Lavita Scheibly of San Francisco, California and Rhonda Komnick and husband Jerry of Clinton, grandchildren, Gary, Kevin, and Ronnie Lewis, Alice Eckart, Angela Carter, Brittney Montgomery, and Ryan and Jeff Osborn, eleven great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Melva Jean Weber, grandson, Chip Roady, one sister, and four brothers.
