Michael A. Mayer's Obituary
Michael A. Mayer Sr., 77, of Decatur passed away on Monday, April 29, 2013 in his home.
Michael was born May 6, 1935. He was a member of Knights of Columbus and Ss. James and Patrick Parish, and he volunteered at the Catholic Charities Food Pantry. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Air Force for eight years. He was a Baker and owner of the Donut Hole for twenty years and retired from Purity Bakery. He married Rose Hancock on April 21, 1962 in New England, MO. She survives.
Michael leaves behind his wife, Rose; sons, Charles (Trisha) Mayer of Decatur; Michael (Kimberly) Mayer, Jr. of Clinton; John (Sarah) Mayer of Decatur; daughter, Anne (Stephan) Sunderland of Decatur; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, David Mayer; and one granddaughter.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 2, 2013 in St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Reverend John Burnette as celebrant. Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home with a vigil prayer service at 4:30 p.m. Burial will be at St. Maurice Cemetery in Morrisonville, IL. Memorials may be directed to Ss. James and Patrick Parish.
