Dear Mike … I am so proud to be your brother. You saved my life!My family remembers when I fell through a shower door and cut my left wrist. I was 15 years old and would have died. I would have bled to death if you weren't there. They may not remember that it was you and Dad that saved me but I remember every day and thank God for you because you were there for me.You grabbed my wrist and held it tight. You didn't let go until we traveled, by car, to the hospital. How did you hold on so long? You talked to me all the way there so that I wouldn't stop and think about what just happened. You visited me often in the hospital and told me everything would be alright. You were right! It was over a year before I could use my hand, I could have lost my hand, or died, but you wouldn't let that happen. I have my left hand and have been able to use it the rest of my life. Everyday, I look at my left wrist and the scar reminds me of when my big brother was there to save my life. It reminds me of you and the 2nd chance I was given to live.50 years later you were there to save my life again.I have suffered with chronic back pain since 1998 and three back surgeries, Just this year, you did research for the implant that is currently in my back, it was supposed to relieve my chronic back pain .My pain is almost totally gone. Mike you did this while in the Veterans home in Quincy. You called your son David, in Los Angeles for me, and gave me great advice on this device and because of you I had the procedure and here I am again in a bad situation that turned out changing my life in a huge positive way. You talked to me every week while in the home and always asked me how my back was doing. You never talked about your condition and yet I worried about you daily. My prayers have always included you and always will. You are my big brother,.. and my hero,…in so many ways!I will love you and pray for you …Always,Tom
