Michael James Young's Obituary
Michael James Young passed away February 7, 2018 at the Heartland Nursing Home in Decatur, IL.
Michael was born in New Hartford, NY on April 28, 1960, the son of Elissa (Seminaro) and Wayne Young. He was an avid traveler, making his home in Decatur, IL for the last 30 yrs.
Mike’s passion was playing drums in rock & roll bands throughout the United States. His music brethren played with him in the bands; Spectrum, The Kids, Antics, Bad Politics, Mama’s Boyz, and Double Trouble. He shared his love for music with young drummers, students he taught for many years.
He worked for 20 years in the restaurant business where he trained and mentored many young people. Mike was a member of the ILSM (militia) and IL Preppers and collected Snoopy, Jeff Gordon memorabilia. He liked to say he invested in lead (ammo), prepping.
Mike is survived by wife Jenmery, his two sons Michael Anthony Young and Michael Wayne Young, brother Tony, and Janie Young, his wife from a previous marriage.
Memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or charity of choice.
He will be buried at Long Point Cemetery in Niantic IL next to his father (Wayne) and his stepmother (Charmain) in a private family ceremony.
A celebration of Mike’s life will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall 577 E North St, Decatur, IL 62523 from 1:00-5:00pm on Sunday, February 18th, 2018. All friends of Mike and family are invited to share in remembering a great father, husband, brother and friend.
