Mildred T. Barnes' Obituary
Mildred T. Barnes, 93, of Decatur died Thursday May 7, 2009 in St. Mary’s Hospital.
Homegoing Celebration will be 11:00 am Friday May 15, 2009 in Antioch Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor, Rev. Dr. C.D. Stuart officiating. Visitation will be one hour before service in the church. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park.
Mildred was born on September 17, 1915 in Prairie, Mississippi the daughter of Ike and Louise Davenport Tolliver. She was a homemaker and a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. She married Willie J. Barnes Sr. on December 18, 1934 in Osceola, AR he preceded her in death in 1990.
She leaves not to mourn but to cherish fond memories sons, Willie J. Barnes Jr. of Decatur; Johnnie H. Barnes Yvonda of Urbana; Kenneth Barnes of Rockford; daughter, Jimmie Lee Mitchell Cornell of Decatur; sisters, Beatrice King of Decatur; Luhenry Johnson of Peoria; 18 grandchildren, and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters, and one brother.
The family of Mildred T. Barnes is being served by Moran & Goebel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2801 N. Monroe Street, Decatur.
