Mildred M. "Millie" Kinert's Obituary
Decatur- Mildred M. “Millie” Kinert, 88, of Decatur, passed away Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Carle Foundation Hospital.
Millie was born July 13, 1926 in Waukegan, IL, the daughter of James Arnold and Julia Ann (Short) Kennedy. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, EIKA, American Legion Auxiliary, and WBCCI. Millie worked as a registered nurse at Decatur Memorial Hospital retiring after twenty-three years of service. She always enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved to golf, play card games and the Chicago Cubs. She married Mervin L. Kinert on February 12, 1983 in Decatur. They were married for nearly thirty-two years.
Millie leaves behind her husband Mervin of Decatur, daughters Jane Marie Hoyer and spouse Ken Ginder of Punta Gorda, FL and Nancy Katherine Hoyer and spouse Lee Vancil of Naples, FL., step-daughters, Gail Pignon and husband Philip of Seattle, WA and Robin Fierce and husband Richard of Woodruff, SC, step-sons David L. Kinert and wife Julie of Lovington and James C. Kinert and wife Jane of Ozark, MO, brother Charles Patrick Kennedy and wife Gretchen of Kenosha, WI, sisters Diane Loretta Keller of Kiel, WI and Colleen Behrens of Lake Villa, six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Millie was preceded in death by her parents.
Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Millie’s life will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 3850 Lourdes Dr. Decatur, Rev. Richard W. Weltin Celebrant. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home with a vigil prayer service at 4:30 p.m. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital or Kidney Foundation.
