Myron Lewis Thompson's Obituary
Decatur – Myron Lewis Thompson, 71, of Decatur, passed away Tuesday, September 19, 2017, after a brief battle with cancer.
Myron was born in Decatur on June 12, 1946, the son of Myron F. and Geraldine (Bullock) Thompson. A Navy veteran, Myron attended GT Church. He was a citizen of Western Cherokee Nation and was a member of Ancient Free & Accepted Masons of Illinois Lodge #0979. Myron worked as a journeyman for the sheet metal workers local. He also worked for the University of Illinois Engineering Services before retiring. Myron married Gloria Rhoades February 15, 1969 in Mt. Zion.
Survivors include his wife Gloria; son, Micah “Shane” (Juliet) Thompson of Decatur; daughter: Amanda “Jane” Thompson of CA; grandchildren: Weston and Lola Thompson; sisters: Virginia Sills of AZ and Francis (John) Tonsor of Decatur; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Myron was preceded in death by his parents.
In honor of Myron’s wishes no services are planned. Memorials are suggested to NARF (Native American Relief Fund).
