Myrtle Irene White's Obituary
Decatur - Myrtle Irene "Myrt" White 96 of Chicago and Decatur passed into eternal life 8:40 p.m. Saturday Feb 5, 2005 in Lincoln Manor Nursing Home after an extended illness.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Tuesday February 8, 2005 in St. Patrick Catholic Church with Rev. Jeff Grant as celebrant. Visitation will be one hour before service in the church. Mrs. White was born in Christian County on June 27, 1908, the daughter of Aaron and Olive Jane Workman Schrader. She was very interested in her Family's history as an early ancestor Direk Jans Woertman came to the Dutch colony of New Amsterdam New York City in 1647 from Amsterdam Holland. Her maternal Grandparents, Michael and Hannah Jane Workman were early settlers in Prairieton Township in Christian County. They built and donated Oak Branch School to the Township and with the Bilyeu family donated land for the Workman-Bilyeu Cemetery west of Moweaqua, Illinois. She married C. Elmer "Pete" White on June 30, 1934. They shared their lives together for 32 years, living a very happy and full life. He preceded her in death on July 1, 1966. Mrs. White was affiliated with her husband in the White Insurance Agency from the 1940's until his death in 1966. Mrs. White was associated with Carson Pirie Scott and retired from William's Fashions in Downtown Decatur. She was a member of Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago and St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Decatur.
Mrs. White is survived by her son, Larry E. White of Decatur special nieces and nephews, June Vording of Macon; Eleanor Brandenburg of Moweaqua; Paul Beverly Jackson, of Decatur; Bartella Ferguson of Champaign; Margaret Schrader, Aaron James Schrader of Dearborn Michigan; Barbara Joe Mulcahy of Bloomington; Carol Chris Zalinski and their triplets Matthew, Stephanie and Emily of Niles; and many other nieces and nephews, brother-in-law, E.J. Dee Mulligan, Las Vegas, NV; special friends Fran Rush of Decatur; Mrs. Mary McNamara of Decatur; Frank Caliendo of Oak Brook; Gerald H. Silverstein of Chicago and Gary A. Johnson of Fontana of WI.
Mrs. White was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters, Stella Crabtree, Lola M. Matheny, Florence E. Jackson, Cleo M. Vording, Lillian V. Walden and brothers Orville Schrader and Harold K. Schrader.
The family would like to thank Ms. Sheila McClung and all the Lincoln Manor Family for their care, compassion and for making Lincoln Manor a home away from home.
