Nancy Karen Barding's Obituary
Nancy Karen Barding, 67, of Decatur passed away May 13. Karen was born in Paducah, KY on January 16th, 1953 to Robert and Peggy (Miller) Boaz. She was a 1971 graduate of St. Teresa High School and attended Springfield College. She was an employee of WAND-TV for 32 years before retiring in 2014.
Karen married Dave Barding on August 11, 1977. Amongst her many joyful activities, the two she seemed to love the most were knitting blankets for her children, grandchildren and the children of friends, and baking treats to share with family and friends during the holidays. She was also an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
She is survived by her husband, Dave; mother, Peggy; daughter, Melissa (Merle) Mixell; son, Brad (Kim) Barding; beloved grandsons, Sam and Bodhi Mixell, all of Decatur; siblings, Kevin (Sally) Boaz of St. Charles, MO, Keely (Cary) Peters, Kent Boaz,; sister-in-law, Debbie Boaz; brother-in- law, Doug (Holly) Barding, all of Decatur.
She is also survived by beloved nephews, nieces, cousins, aunt and an abundance of friends.
She was preceded in death by her Father, brother Keith and daughter Gretchen.
A private graveside service for family will be held with a celebration of life event at a later date.
