Decatur-Nancy Antoinette Smith, 65, of Decatur passed away on Thursday, September 6, 2012 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
A memorial service to celebrate Nancy's life will be 6 p.m. Wednesday, September 12, 2012 in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
Nancy was born December 15, 1946 in Peoria, Illinois, the daughter of Anthony and Evylinn Ruth (Thompson) Stamper. She worked for many years in customer service at the Herald & Review retiring after thirty years of service. She married Micheal Joe Smith October 29, 1964. He preceded her in death in 2005.
She leaves behind to cherish fond memories her daughter Kelly Hines of Decatur, son Dale Smith of Decatur, grandchildren Denise Smith of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, and Kenneth Smith of Decatur, special friend Erwin 'Mike' Swam aka Swammy of Decatur, godchildren Carol and Moses Knapp, brother John Stamper of Portland Oregon, sisters Rose Knapp of Decatur and Denise (William) Lawrence of Washington, Illinois, Uncle Leland Thompson of Danville, Illinois, cousin Steve (Marsha) Senger of Decatur, and a host of great-grandchildren and friends.
She was greeted in Heaven by her parents, husband, and son Sean Smith.
The family would like to give a special thanks to DMH Hospice and the nurses of 5100 and Dr Kairous and all the wonderful nurses of the Cancer Care Specialists of Central Illinois.
