Nedra Garriott's Obituary
Nedra Nadine Garriott, 95, of Decatur, passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at Imboden Creek Living Center.
Nedra was born July 8, 1917 in Jasper County, Illinois, the only child of Darwin and Gladys (Moore) Pickens. She was a member of Northwest Christian Church and was retired from Grigoleit Company. Nedra loved her family, and demonstrated it in so many ways: meals and baked goods, weekly letters, handmade quilts and afghans, cards for every holiday, and simply being there to help when needed. She loved gardening, needlework, cooking, flowers, decorating for the holidays, holding hands, seeing the smiles of children, and laughter.
She leaves to cherish her memory son-in-law Ken Schirle of Decatur; grandsons: John Schirle of Decatur, Clark (Sue) Schirle of Westmont, Illinois, and Steve (Barb) Schirle of Anderson, South Carolina; great-grandsons: Justin, Ryan, Michael, and Kyle Schirle of Westmont, Illinois; great-granddaughters: Alexis and Grace Schirle of Anderson, South Carolina; and aunt, Hazel Musser of Fairmont, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Shirley Schirle of Decatur, and long-time companion Gordon 'Jack' Jackson.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Anthony McCormack and Marilee Dalton Peters, and the staffs of Keystone Gardens, Keystone Meadows, and Imboden Creek Living Center for years of wonderful and loving care of Nedra.
Visitation will be Tuesday, December 4, 2012 from 10 to 11 am in the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home, with service to celebrate Nedra's life following at 11 am. Burial will follow in Boiling Springs Cemetery, Decatur.
Nedra's family is being served by the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home, 2801 N. Monroe St., Decatur, IL 62526. Online condolences and memories can be shared at www.moranandgoebel.com.
