Nelda Elaine Strachan's Obituary
Nelda E. Strachan, age 90, of Decatur, IL, passed peacefully into heaven on October 22, 2024, at 1:28 AM, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on August 3, 1934, she married the love of her life, Robert L. Strachan Sr., in 1953. They shared 59 wonderful years together until his passing in November of 2012. Throughout her life, Nelda was a dedicated caregiver, nurturing her own children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and countless others.
She is survived by her four children: Linda Fitzpatrick of Portales, NM; Susan (Joe) Creek of Cerro Gordo, IL; Robert L. (Debbie) Strachan II of Taylorville, IL; and Dennis (Cheryl) Strachan of Phoenix, AZ. Nelda’s legacy continues through her eight grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and goddaughter Robbin McFadden.
Welcomed into eternal rest, she joins her husband Robert; her parents, Harry E.L. and Margaret Johnson; sister, Dorothy Elizabeth Bird; great-granddaughter, Ella Rose Jedlicka; aunt, Harriet Napeirski; special cousin, Max Napeirski; and angel babies not yet named.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the caring staff at Carriage Crossing nursing home for their compassion and support. Nelda will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the hearts of all who knew her.
Nelda will be laid to rest with her beloved Robert at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at Macon County Memorial Park. Service will be officiated by Nelda’s grandson, Dan Jedlicka.
