Nellie K. Watkins' Obituary
Decatur- Nellie Kate Watkins, 100, of Decatur passed away at 11:50 pm Wednesday, September 28, 2011 in her home.
Nellie was born on November 17, 1910 in Brownsville, TN to the union of Anna Lamb and David Williams. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church, Big Sisters Club and the Eastern Star. She had worked for the Moran family as a homemaker. She married Clyde Watkins on July 8, 1926 in Decatur. He preceded her in death in 1982.
She leaves to cherish fond memories four granddaughters, Regina Dooley of Decatur; Shirleen Herschell Harvell of Conyers, GA; Rosalind Ford of Center Point, AL; Allison Brownlee of Smyrna GA; seven great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren, one sister-in-law, Bernice Lamb, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Eugene Watkins, three brothers, and two sisters.
Homegoing Celebration will be 11:00 am Saturday October 8, 2011 in Antioch Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. C.D. Stuart officiating. Visitation will be one hour before service in the church. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery and conclude with the “Flight Home” ceremony.
