Netella Joan Hill's Obituary
Decatur – Netella Joan (Jones) Hill, 92, of Decatur, passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2025, in her home with family.
Netella was born on December 30/31, 1932, in Chicago, IL, to Arena Jones and Joseph Mason and was raised by her bonus mother/aunt Marjorie Carter and bonus father William Bealon.
She attended Decatur Public Schools. Netella was also known as Moma Joan and Ralph by her daughter because she was Mom and Dad. She worked for the Decatur Public School District as a lunchroom supervisor at Durfee and Centennial School.
Netella was a mother of the Church of The Living God PGT Temple #4 and member of the usher and mission board under the leadership of Bishop E.F. Grey.
Netella had 8 is enough children whom she leaves to cherish her memories, her sons: Elder Leland Jones and James (Jackie) Henning of Decatur, and Rodney Armour of TX; daughters: Odessa Bradford and Arena (Johnny) Williams of Decatur; grandchildren: Mason, Jamie, Kawana, Yahne, Jauna, Royann, Rhashedd, Joseph, Jameshia, Ryan, Christian, Arena, Briann, Dauris, Brian, Brylynn, Shatan, Sheland, Joseph, Leland, Adrian, Darrell, Rodney, Rodrick, and Netella and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; brothers: Donald Mason of Springfield, and Eric Collins of Centralia; sisters: Renice Bollings of Alton, Alice Faye Walton of Springfield; and special niece Helen Borgess of Rockford; and the Poole Street village.
Preceded in death are her sons: Jesse McMillan and Brian Armour; daughter Vernita Armour; granddaughter Netella K. Armour, grandson Roy Armour; brothers: Frederick (Bealon) Jones, Bobby Joe Mason (Harlem Globetrotter), Eddie Walton, Clarence Walton, and Crawford Bealon; six half siblings (Bealon Brothers) and Walton Brothers; daughter in law Nancy (Hunt) Jones.
Visitation will be from 10 am until the service time of 11 am, Thursday, October 9, 2025, at the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery.
