Norma A. Jackson's Obituary
Norma A. Jackson, 88, of Decatur passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2014 in Fair Havens Christian Home.
Norma was born on July 25, 1925 in Casner, IL the daughter of Charles H. and Marie V. (Wiesendanger) Ater.
Norma is survived by her five children and their wives. These include Curt (Malinda) Jackson of Decatur, Roger (Robin) Jackson of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Erwin (Stefanie) Jackson of Tallahassee, Florida, Terry (Sally) Jackson of Lombard, Illinois, and Marty (Kathy) Jackson of Hollywood, Florida. She also leaves five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
After growing up on a farm, Norma spent her early adult years farming with her husband of 33 years, Gerald. She was a homemaker and raised five boys. She was quite a seamstress and made own wedding dress. After moving “to town” in 1965, Norma went from fabric and curtain sales to real estate sales person and ultimately became a real estate broker. She and Gerald opened Jackson Realty in 1972. After leaving the real estate sector, she returned to her farmer roots and continued to be an avid gardener and volunteered at the Rock Springs Nature Center.
Graveside service to celebrate Norma’s Life will be 11 AM Wednesday, June 18, 2014 in Friends Creek Cemetery in Argenta, IL with Pastor Joel Ruppert officiating. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Tuesday in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Rock Springs Nature Center.
