Norma Jean Zindel's Obituary
Decatur – Norma Jean Zindel, 93, of Decatur passed away Monday, June 12, 2017, in McKinley Court Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family.
Norma was born January 24, 1924, in Decatur, the daughter of Joyce and Irene E. (Prescott) Wiley. A graduate of Moweaqua High School, Norma loved art and was awarded a scholarship to the Art Institute in Chicago. She was a member of the Presbyterian church and attended school in Chicago until her senior year when she moved to Macon. Norma and her husband owned and operated Z&R Oil Equipment for 44 years. She loved to sew, go camping, boating, water skiing and keeping up with her family and friends on Facebook. Norma married her high school sweetheart Robert F. Zindel April 19, 1945, in Brownsville, TX, and he preceded her in death March 2, 1999. Also preceding her in death was a son Mark Conrad Zindel, great granddaughter Hadley Rose Suzewitz, great nephew Jeremy Gentry and sister in law Lorene Morr.
Surviving are her daughters: Karen Hogan and Tina (Tim) Suzewitz of Decatur; grandchildren: Kathryn (Krista) Hogan, Holly (Brandon) Gotts, Robert (Brittney) Suzewitz and Kaitlynn Suzewitz; great grandchildren: Drew Petitt, Brady Gotts, Camdyn Gotts and Lincoln Suzewitz; nieces: Juli Hamilton and Gina Ritchie and nephew Dan Morr, three great nephews and two great nieces.
Funeral liturgy to celebrate Norma’s life will be 11 am, Saturday, June 17, 2017 at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home, Very Rev. Joseph M. Molloy, V.F., celebrant. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Private burial will take place in the Odd Fellow Cemetery, Moweaqua. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holy Family School.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of McKinley Court that gave her such wonderful care, especially Ashley, Anthonique, Alexis, Melinda and Sharon. Also, a special thank you goes to Dr. D. Patel, Phil Shills and their staff.
Norma was a wonderful women who was devoted to her family and was loved by all that knew her.
