Norman Mathias' Obituary
Norman Mathias, 75, of Decatur, passed away Friday, January 23, 2015 in his home surrounded by his loving family.
Visitation will be from 5pm-9pm on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 in the Harristown Camp Wilson Foursquare Church. Services celebrating Norman’s life will be 11 am Wednesday, January 28, 2015 in Camp Wilson Foursquare Church 7570 W Main St, Decatur, IL 62522. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
Norman was born February 17, 1939 in St. Elmo, IL., the son of James Raleigh and Cleta Marie (Bolt) Mathias. He worked at AE Staleys for thirty-five years, and later retired. He married Donna (Queen) Mathias on May 19, 1990 in St. Charles, MO. They shared twenty-five wonderful years together. He was a member of the Christian singing groups: Gospel Messengers, The Mathias Family, Shiloh, founded Christian Motor Cycle Association (Decatur Chapter), and a member of the NRA, a pitcher for the Black Brothers Fastpitch League. He was an avid hunter, and enjoyed horseshoe pitching. He was also a member and elder of Camp Wilson Foursquare Church, Harristown, IL,
Surviving are his wife Donna Queen Mathias of Decatur; son Mark (Shelly) Mathias of Sullivan; daughter, Beth Mathias Damery of Charlotte, NC; step-son, Scott Queen (Jill Brillhart) of Springfield, IL; Step-daughter, Chris (Stacty) Pryer of Springfield, IL; five grandchildren, five great grandchildren, three step-grandchildren; sister, Virginia (Roy) Stacey of Illiopolis, IL and Kay (Larry) Patient of Findlay, IL; Brother, Jim (Donna) Mathias of Decatur, IL; Sister in laws, Peg Mathias of Harristown, IL and June Mathias of Mechanicsburg, IL, and twenty two nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death with his parents, brother, Lewis (Bud) Mathias, bother, Sherman Mathias, and sister, Shirley Wagner.
