Norman Cale Sarver's Obituary
Norman Cale Sarver, 84, of Oakley, Illinois, passed away November 28, 2025, at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Norm was born in Oconee, Illinois, on March 4, 1941, the son of Garold and Marie (Manuel) Sarver. He married Donna Maxedon on December 4, 1960, in Decatur, Illinois, and together they raised two daughters.
Norm graduated from MacArthur High School in Decatur and then worked at Caterpillar until joining the Army National Guard. He had many occupations throughout his life. He worked as a farm hand until he began working at Superior Welding. He started his own lawn mowing business and later began his own excavating business. He also owned and developed Bambi Pointe subdivision. He raised mums and strawberries, and he owned Poor Old Norm’s Asparagus Farm. He was always coming up with an idea to make a buck.
In his spare time, Norm enjoyed gambling, especially playing craps at casinos. He loved country music and was thrilled to see George Jones in person in a casino in Tunica, Mississippi. He was an avid NASCAR fan.
Norm is survived by his wife Donna; daughters Debbie (Randy) Rhodes of Cape Coral, FL and Dana (Jon) Gruen of Oakley, IL; 3 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and brother Lynden Sarver of LaGrange, NC. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
Funeral services for Norm will be held on Thursday, December 4, at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 1pm and will be followed by a service at 2pm. Condolences may be shared with the family at https://www.moranandgoebel.com.
